We are the latest winners of HTJ! Well done to Totara who took out the karaoke challenge in the last week of Term 2. It was a bit of surprise because we didn't do much practice for this one - maybe that could be our winning secret! What will the next challenge be?
We are the current champions of HTJ after we won the camp challenge. So... we need to start thinking about a challenge we can set for week 2. What are your ideas? Leave a comment below:
Our camp HTJ challenge is called 'Wall of Pain.' Cade came up with the idea after he saw it on Sticky TV. It is also something people do at the gym to strengthen their leg muscles. Last week, we spent time trying out some rules and working out the correct technique. We had a house competition and had 9 finalists in our champion of champions round. It was between Matthew, Emma, Zydyn, Marlese, Ashleigh, TC, Todd, Kurt and Mackenzie. We were tougher on technique this time and so it was quicker to get people out. After 8 minutes Marlese, Ashleigh and Mackenzie were still going. Maybe we will do well at this challenge!
On Friday, we played Rob the Nest with Manuka and Harakeke for the HTJ competition. Unfortunately, we didn't do so well and we got beaten! It was a good lesson for us to learn because we got beaten by quite a lot. We scored 9 points and the other classes scored 30+ points. Many people's first reaction was to complain about the rules or cheating that may have happened. This does not make us good losers. Zydyn came up with a good comment - "It's only a game!" That is something we could all remember at times when playing competitive sport. Another thing someone said after a while is that we always have another challenge to look forward to and maybe we will win the next one. That's right - there is always next time! Here are some photos from the challenge...
Today we brainstormed some ideas for our HTJ camp challenge. Here is our list. Leave a comment about the idea you like the most. Remember to explain why.
Well... we have had the 1st HTJ for 2014 and we have had to learn how to handle getting so close! We went into the final activity with the chance to win, but we were pipped by R8. The challenges were all great fun and it was really good to see Totara students working together to come up with good strategies to try. Check out some photos from the 3 events:
